Savi Technology is producing two new Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensor tags for temperature- and humidity-sensitive military and commercial cargoes, including ammunition, medical supplies, foodstuffs, and other perishables.

Savi said its new ST-673 and ST-674 sensor tags not only monitor temperature and humidity changes with a shipping container or truck trailer but allow users to pre-program acceptable temperature and humidity ranges customized to particular goods.

“By alerting users to problematic environmental conditions when goods are moving through the supply chain, these new active RFID products reduce losses due to spoilage or damage,” noted David Kranzler, Savi’s senior vp for product development.

Also Kranzler said the ST-673 and ST-674 also provide visibility to assets and shipments as they move through the supply chain. It periodically records the environmental status data to an event log that sends a real-time alarm if the temperature or humidity exceeds pre-set ranges.
