New York-based Sirius Satellite Radio has announced its customer base increased 190% in 2005 to 3,316,560 million members after 2,173,302 new subscribers were added during the year.

“Satellite radio is very hot and is continuing on pace to be one of the fastest growing products in consumer electronics history,” said Mel Karmazin, CEO of Sirius. “The industry has over nine million subscribers today and added nearly five million new subscribers alone in 2005. We are experiencing a strong start to 2006 and we expect to end 2006 with over six million subscribers.”
