Punta Gorda, FL-based CGM Security Solutions is introducing a patented tractor-trailer air brake locking device to prevent the vehicle from being stolen while left unattended.

When engaged, CGM’s TS4A tractor air brake lock, when engaged, blocks the air line from the tractor to the air brakes both in the tractor and – if hooked together – to the trailer. It is compatible with any air brake valve system (Bendix, Haldex or Midland), and can be installed by a fleet’s maintenance staff in under 20 minutes, according to Erik Hoffer, the company’s president.

“Every year, hundreds of tractors are stolen when drivers momentarily leave to go to the bathroom, have a bite to eat, or get a quick cup of coffee. This prevents that from happening,” he said.

“We also ensure that the TS-4A gets used because a driver can’t operate the vehicle without the device being activated,” Hoffer added. “This is not a flimsy plastic cuff piece that may or may not make it onto the air brake knob nor is it a cheap steering wheel lock that also has to be assembled. Not only is it designed to last the life cycle of the rig, it can also be removed and re-installed on another vehicle for a nominal fee, covering the cost of a new mounting plate.”
