Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC said its Acuña I manufacturing facility in Acuña, Mexico, achieved zero recordable accidents in 2010. And that record came despite a 13% increase in work hours from 2009.
The company added that, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the injury rate for similar manufacturing facilities was 5.2 in 2009– meaning an average of 5.2 recordable injuries for every 100 employees.
“Achieving this milestone reflects the commitment of our local plant leadership and our workforce to embrace, enable, and consistently implement a comprehensive safety culture,” said Maria Gutierrez, Bendix health, safety & environmental manager. “Accident reduction translates to reduced costs, increased line productivity, and improved employee morale.”
