Con-way Inc. has launched a program to allow drivers at full-truckload carrier Con-way Truckload and less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier Con-way Freight to consider positions at their respective sister companies before they are shared with the open market.

Candidates that meet eligibility standards would complete the normal application and hiring process to be considered for employment. The program was started as an attempt to provide synergy between Con-way Truckload—formerly CFI, purchased by Con-way last year--and Con-way Freight, the company said.

"When we announced the acquisition of CFI last year, we were confident that there were unique areas of synergy we could capture that would provide competitive advantage and benefit our companies, our customers and our employees,” said Douglas W. Stotlar, Con-way Inc. president & CEO. "We're now starting to see these come to fruition, and I expect we will see additional success stories as the year continues.”
