LabelMaster and Instructional Technologies (ITI) have launched a multi-media online hazmat fleet training program

LabelMaster and Instructional Technologies (ITI) have launched a multi-media online hazmat fleet training program that meets U.S. Federal Re-Certification Training requirements, designed to provide drivers with effective and cost-efficient instruction.

The 100% Internet-based four-lesson set uses “mastery-level” scoring, forcing a driver to answer all questions correctly before moving on. The lessons covered are Hazmat Security Awareness, Driving and Parking Rules, Communication Rules, and Loading and Placarding.

“Up until now, mandatory hazmat re-training has been, quite frankly, boring, time-consuming and often out of date because books and video tapes are expensive to produce and hard to change,” said Dr. James Voorhees, CEO of ITI. “This means you end up dumping your money into training material that is uninteresting, ineffective, and expensive. And then you have to do it all again with the next driver you hire. And with a subject as critical as transporting hazardous material, lack of thorough driver training is completely unacceptable.”

The completion data is sent to ITI after the driver finishes each individual lesson and is entered into ITI’s Training Management System (TMS) for third-party recordkeeping and documentation. A certificate of training is issued in the driver’s name for inclusion in his or her training file once all lessons are completed.
