EVI awards steering system contract to Danotek

Feb. 22, 2012

Electric Vehicles International (EVI) has awarded Danotek Motion Technologies (Danotek) a blanket purchase order for the supply of electro-hydraulic steering system units for a fleet of walk-in delivery trucks being supplied to United Parcel Service (UPS), according to a recent announcement from Danotek. The EVI trucks are scheduled to be deployed in California this year.

Danotek’s Series 6200 Electro Hydraulic Power Steering Pump utilizes the company’s patented permanent magnet technology, especially suited for certain applications within the mobile and transportation sectors, including for light truck steering, utility, farm and earth-moving hydraulic equipment as well as various industrial applications.  The pump features built-in diagnostics, fault tolerance and “limp home” capability.

“At EVI, our goal is to deliver the cleanest, most efficient and reliable vehicle to our customers’ fleets,” Ricky Hanna, EVI president & CEO said. “The UPS delivery truck program’s test phase confirmed the performance of Danotek’s systems. We anticipate this being the first of many potential opportunities for the application of Danotek’s permanent magnet power steering pump technology to EVI’s electric vehicle programs.”

“EVI is building great momentum in the marketplace with the excellent performance of their vehicles,” noted Danotek’s senior program manager, Greg Bac. “We are thrilled to be their [sic] supplier of choice for one of the world’s largest deployments of commercial, all-electric vehicles. This purchase order is the result of a lot of hard work and dedication by the two companies’ teams during prototype evaluation.”
