Michigan Police seek witnesses in truck driver shooting incident

June 28, 2013

A truck driver traveling northbound on the Southfield Freeway in Detroit on June 21 was shot at by someone in a green minivan, according to a Michigan State Police press release. At least one gunshot was fired at the trucker in the 3 a.m. incident.

The minivan was next to the truck when the truck driver saw an arm extend from the driver’s side window of the minivan with a gun that was then fired, the release said. The truck driver drove to Sterling Heights and reported the incident. Police did not say what, if anything, might have prompted the attack.

The truck had front-end damage, but police said they haven’t recovered any shell casings. The road’s northbound lanes were closed in the area until about 5:50 a.m. while the shooting was investigated.

Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police tip line at 248-584-5740, ext. 5530.
