App for HOS, GPS routing and more

July 3, 2012

A new smartphone app for truckers available from Google Play seeks to remove the complexity and hardware costs from fleet tracking and driver management, its maker said. The BigRoad app offers real-time GPS tracking and routing, hours-of-service updates and two-way driver messaging with read receipt and history.

It can also be used to send and receive documents to drivers through their smartphone or tablet through its real-time document capture.

The real-time GPS location tracking includes weather, traffic and satellite images for all drivers to help dispatchers improve planning and customer service through more accurate ETAs.

The app is free to download and costs $15 per month, per truck. BigRoad is offering a free 30-day trial with obligation.
