ODFL appoints vp of information systems & technology

May 10, 2012

Chris Young, a 17-year IT veteran, has been named vice president of information systems & technology for Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL). Young, who joined ODFL in April 2010, has served as the director of SAP applications for the past two years.

He will lead the company’s IT department and OS-Technology, the company’s branded technological solutions division. He succeeds Ken Erdner, who is retiring after 16 years.

“The OD-Technology brand has propelled to the top of the industry in the past few years thanks to the leadership of Ken Erdner and the dedication of the IT team,” said Chip Overbey, Old Dominion’s senior vice president of strategic business development. “We are confident that, as a member of senior management, Chris will continue this legacy by driving the technological initiatives of our company with vision and passion.”

CIO magazine has honored the less-than-truckload carrier three years in a row as a recipient of the CIO 100 award, which recognizes organizations that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology.
