PrePass bypass service launches at two Mississippi weigh stations

The PrePass weigh station bypass service is now operational at two Mississippi weigh stations, provider HELP Inc., said.

HELP is a non-profit public/private partnership that produces PrePass and other truck safety and efficiency services,

The new locations are along I-55 approximately 20 mi. south of Memphis, TN. Both the northbound and southbound weigh stations are fully operational with PrePass’ safety pre-clearance service.

Mississippi opened its first PrePass-equipped weigh station in 1998 and now has 12 additional sites. Last year, trucks that were qualified to bypass PrePass sites saved more than 225,772 hours, representing $1,083,706 in fuel savings and $23,516,412 in operational cost savings, HELP said.

“HELP’s investment of more than $4 million in Mississippi PrePass sites is providing benefits to safe motor carriers and to Mississippi enforcement agencies alike,” said Karen Rasmussen, HELP president and CEO. “We value the support of Mississippi public agencies in making the highways safer for everyone.”

Nationally, PrePass bypass services are available at 306 operational weigh stations and inspection facilities in 31 states.
