FleetVista, the fleet management monitoring system from New Boundary Technologies, has now been integrated with Digi International’s Digi ConnectPort X5 communications device to offer managers more tracking and management tools.

ConnectPort X5 is a “low-cost communications gateway” that offers built-in GPS and cellular connectivity. By adding FleetVista to the device, fleet managers can improve vehicle utilization and efficiency. FleetVista also allows for an up-to-date account of vehicle movement and location.

“We are excited to expand our partnership with New Boundary Technologies and provide our mutual customers a complete fleet management solution,” said Larry Kraft, senior vice president of global sales and marketing for Digi International. “Combining Digi’s robust in-vehicle hardware with New Boundary Technologies’ fleet management software helps customers monitor their fleets and create more efficient vehicle routes.”

Vehicles equipped with the X5 solution can also utilize TankVista, a tank sensor and monitoring service from New Boundary.

“The integration of an X5-equipped FleetVista with TankVista is an exciting step that provides greater visibility and control throughout the supply chain,” said Kim Pearson, chief executive officer for New Boundary Technologies. “It can allow suppliers and fleet managers to service more customers and improve reliability of supply, which translates into higher profits and fewer logistical hassles.”

FleetVista interfaces with back-office systems to provide end-to-end tracking of loads, route management tools, real-time tracking, and driver interaction packages.

The ConnectPort X5 family also supports Digi’s XBee wireless technology to deploy low-power sensor networks within and around the vehicle to monitor tires, refrigeration units, door latches, temperature sensors, cargo sensors, RFID readers and other critical asset points. The X5 also features advanced power management as well as CANbus, J1708 and J1939 support.
