The Technology & Maintenance Council has named Roy Gambrell, director of maintenance for TX-based Truck It, as its general chairman and treasurer for 2011-2012 following its annual meeting in Tampa, FL, earlier this month.

Gambrell noted that one of his goals for his year as general chairman is to get more small fleets involved with the organization, which is a technical council of the American Trucking Associations (ATA).

“TMC can help even the smallest fleets improve their maintenance activities,” he pointed out, noting that small fleets especially need the “power” of TMC, as large fleets already have their own OEM service and engineering people.

He also emphasized the importance for small-fleet members of TMC’s Fleet Operators Forum where equipment owners can receive redress from manufacturers on issues that could not otherwise be resolved.

Those serving as TMC officers for 2011-2012 include: Vice Chairman and Chairman of Meetings Lee Long of Southeastern Freight Lines; Chairman of Study Groups Kirk Altrichter with Gordon Trucking; Membership and Publicity Chairman Kevin Ott from engine-maker Cummins; and Chairman of Associates Al Anderson from Jost International.
