Morey Corp. has added several enhancements to its ruggedized Trax MT-13 telematics fleet management system for light- and medium-duty vehicles.

The MT-13 used wireless communication and GPS technology and is designed to IP65 standards in a compact design, internal GPS and GSM antennas.

Improvements from the previous model include an accelerometer that monitor G-forces. If, for example, the trigger is set for 0.5 Gs, then any event, either acceleration or deceleration, exceeding 0.5 Gs in any of three axis will trip the accelerometer. Possible applications include crash event, rapid acceleration/deceleration detection and reporting and driver behavior.

Standard features for the MT-13 include GPS-based motion detection, ignition sensing, quad-band GSM network support, virtual odometer, storage and forward of data when out of network coverage, and status monitoring and event management.

A fleet management interface that works in conjunction with Garmin portable navigation devices, idle detection and battery backup functions have also been added to the device.

“Morey’s MT-13 is a feature-packed, low cost solution that goes beyond simple asset track and trace to higher level monitoring functions and combines rugged dependability with flexible over-the-air programmability and configuration,” said Dana Morey, executive vp. “The rugged Trax MT-13 can dramatically increase fleet productivity and accountability and help fleet owners fully utilize, track, and maintain their equipment.”
