Key takeaways

  • Dry van spot rates dropped last week, though they remain 22–26% higher than last year, signaling continued strong demand.
  • Refrigerated freight saw a larger weekly rate decline, with loads falling nearly 25% despite rates staying about 31–33% above 2025.
  • Flatbed loads and rates increased modestly, showing steady year-over-year growth and highlighting continued market resilience.

Last week, dry van and refrigerated spot rates fell, according to weekly reports from FTR Transportation Intelligence and DAT Freight & Analytics.

According to FTR, “Flatbed spot rates were not nearly as strong versus the same 2025 week, but they are the strongest year over year since May 2022 and have risen in 12 of the past 13 weeks. Van spot rates typically fall during the current week of the year, but they likely will remain highly elevated.”
