Prices for diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) inched up slightly, according to data tracked by Integer Research, with U.S. DEF bulk prices trending upward back in November as feedstock prices for urea – the ammonia-based component of DEF – rebounded for the first time since April this year.
Integer noted that the national average for tote refill prices increased by one penny in the U.S. to $1.88 per gallon, while decreasing by one cent in Canada to CAD 54 cents per liter, roughly equivalent to $1.91 per gallon.
Multi-drop average prices for DEF, though, remained stable in both the U.S. and Canada, the firm reported, at $1.80 per gallon and CAD 52 cents per liter (approximately $1.84 per gallon) last month when compared to October.
Meanwhile, the national average price of DEF truck stops remained stable at $2.79 per gallon in the U.S. – which has been the average price since November 2012 – while in Canada, the price remained at CAD 80 cents per liter, or about $2.83 per gallon at current exchange rates; a pricing point that’s remained unchanged since October 2011, Integer said.
