Atlanta GA-based motor carrier Saia Inc has announced it will merge with Action Express and WestEx Inc and operate under the Saia brand name. Saia will continue to focus on overnight and second-day service in the LTL market, the company said
“This move better positions us to handle the needs of our customers by allowing us to extend our regional service throughout a 21-state area — an increase from 12 states,” said Rick O'Dell, Saia president and chief executive officer. The firm will continue to provide one- and two-day service in its direct-coverage area.
O'Dell said the three companies already use the same internal computer system and common operations procedures, which should make the transition seamless for customers and employees.
