Cool Chain IQ has published the results of an industrywide Supply Chain Survey, conducted recently among 3,000 supply chain specialists.

In this report, Cool Chain IQ explores the concerns of key stakeholders in the temperature-controlled supply chain and looks at global trends for securing the supply chain, protecting products, and ensuring quality during distribution.

Results show that almost 23% of respondents do not know where to start when it comes to complying with California’s 2015 e-pedigree requirements. Thirteen percent of supply chain professionals said their companies only acted reactively to specific security issues in the supply chain; nearly 70% of professionals said ease of integration would most improve their track-and-trace technology. With regard to supply chain visibility, it was the second-highest priority for respondents making improvements in their supply chains.

The survey was created as a part of the pre-conference research for the 12th annual Cool Chain Logistics Europe, set for January 28-30, 2013, in Basel, Switzerland.

For this event, the agenda and final speaker line-up features Dr Ravi Prakash Mathur, director–supply chain management from Dr Reddy’s Laboratories. He will explain how to integrate the supply chain and temperature control distribution community through horizontal pooling LTL distribution strategies. Ian Holloway, senior pharmaceutical assessor from MHRA, will update requirements of licensed facilities for handling 2-8C products.

Other topics expressed by survey respondents that will be discussed at the event include:

•International Air Transport Association (IATA) insight on new label claim requirements, updates to Chapter 17

•Case study from Novartis—Evaluating and implementing a live tracking and monitoring program to ensure full supply chain data clarity

•Pfizer’s interactive session—Acclimatizing to controlled room temperature and ambient logistics requirements

•Case study from Abbott—Developing an air freight program directly with the airlines
