ID Systems Inc (NASDAQ: IDSY), a provider of wireless systems, has secured a multi-year renewal and expansion contract with truckload carrier Knight Transportation Inc (NYSE: KNX). The contract will extend Knight’s deployment of VeriWise transportation asset management solutions from ID Systems’ Asset Intelligence subsidiary.
As part of the contract, Knight purchased ID Systems’ new cellular-based VeriWise systems, which feature enhancements including easier installation, in-transit reporting, and GPS mileage tracking. The order contributed to I.D. Systems’ achievement of about 10,000 total transportation asset management unit sales in third quarter 2015.
Since 2000, Knight has used a range of VeriWise systems to manage its trailer fleet. These include Reefer Control systems for refrigerated trailers, Dry Van systems with cargo sensing for dry van trailers, and Track and Trace systems for chassis, flatbed trailers, and dry van trailers.
