The American Trucking Associations (ATA) Safety Management Council announced its 2009 award winners at its Safety & Human Resources National Conference & Exhibition in Baltimore MD recently.
The ATA President’s Trophy recognizes the three companies whose fleets have been judged to have the best overall safety programs from the Truck & Industrial Safety Contests. These contests judge motor carriers from across the United States on their safety accomplishments and safety records relative to others within their operation type and size. The top three ATA President’s Trophy recipients are honored for their safety achievements, commitment to industrywide safety, and promotion of safety among all highway users.
The 2009 ATA President’s Trophy is sponsored by Great West Casualty Company. Winners are:

•Mid-size fleet winner (between 25 million and 100 million miles annually):

The National Safety Director Award is sponsored by Great West Casualty Co. The winner is John Spiros, Roehl Transport Inc, Marshfield WI.
The Excellence in Safety award is sponsored by Great West Casualty Co, and the winner is the North Carolina Trucking Association.
The Excellence in Human Resource Management award went to Pitt Ohio Express LLC, Pittsburgh PA.
The Leadership Award went to Michael E Baker, CDS, Usher Transport Inc, Louisville KY.
