Santa Rosa, CA, sheriff’s deputies are warning motorists to be on the lookout for suspects in a highway shooting on Highway 101 early Friday morning March 15.
The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Dept. issued a press release about the incident where a woman reported being shot at by occupants of a large maroon or burgundy colored SUV. The victim told police that she was driving north on the freeway just south of the River Road exit at 6 a.m. when she noticed the SUV tailgating her. Before she could move over, the SUV pulled up alongside her and shot at her.
“The victim heard but did not see the shot fired and assumed her tire had gone flat as the suspect vehicle sped off,” a Sheriff’s press release stated. “The victim arrived at work shortly thereafter and discovered an apparent bullet hole to the passenger side of her vehicle. The victim was unharmed.”
The Sheriff’s Dept. Violent Crime Detectives responded to the scene and are asking the public’s help to capture the shooter.
Both the driver and front seat passenger of the SUV were described as white or Hispanic males of unknown age. The victim stated that the SUV was being driven “erratically” both before and after the incident.
Anyone with information regarding this incident, the suspects involved or the suspect vehicle is asked to please contact Detective Sal Borruso at 707-565-2185.
