Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Your Fleet

Nov. 30, 2015
GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions and fuel efficiency are both significant concerns in the transportation industry today.
Battle lines are already being drawn over the new Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) standards developed by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Environmentalists are concerned that the rules do not go far enough while trucking is worried that the rules will boost up-front equipment costs and increase complexity without delivering on the envisioned fuel-saving benefits.

This time around, however, there are reasons to be at least cautiously optimistic that fleets will realize a return on their investment. You will not get a better look at the particulars of the new GHG regulations than from these two subject matter experts—Michael Roeth, executive director, North American Council for Freight Efficiency and Matthew Spears, center director, heavy-duty diesel standards at EPA.
