Battle lines are already being drawn over the new Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) standards developed by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Environmentalists are concerned that the rules do not go far enough while trucking is worried that the rules will boost up-front equipment costs and increase complexity without delivering on the envisioned fuel-saving benefits.
This time around, however, there are reasons to be at least cautiously optimistic that fleets will realize a return on their investment.
