Duluth, GA-based LTL carrier Saia plans to improve transit times from key points in the Midwest by one day starting August 1.

The one-day improvement in delivery times will cover freight moving from points in Cedar Rapids, IA; Chicago, IL; Milwaukee, WI and Minneapolis, MN to terminals across the south and southwest, said Saia president & CEO Rick O’Dell.

Improved transit times should also positively impact shipments originating from the Midwest markets destined to points served by terminals in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

“As we continue to have success in the Midwest marketplace, opportunities are developing to create direct schedules and enhance service,” O’Dell said. “Any time we improve transit times while maintaining a high level of customer service, we offer another reason to use our services. Aggressive reduction of transit times is an ongoing initiative that continues to be a major focus for us.”
