Denver university to offer transportation degree

May 23, 2012

The University of Denver’s college of professional and continuing studies announced that it is offering a new global commerce and transportation major through its Bachelor of Arts Completion Program (BACP).

The school said this transportation-focused degree will be offered online, on campus, or in a combination of both, with hands-on instruction available to cover transportation safety and security issues, law and policy, economics and finance, international trade, supply chain and logistics, plus transportation modes and nodes.

“This new major addresses a critical transportation and supply chain industry management development challenge,” noted George Woodward, president of the board of directors for the Intermodal Transportation Institute (ITI), which is based within the University of Denver.

“Conversations with corporations involved in global commerce and transportation have confirmed the need for well qualified graduates for future career opportunities,” he added. “After graduation, some of the careers possible with this degree are entry level professional positions with transportation providers, supply chain management and logistic services, including air package express, rail, motor and ocean carriers, and related companies.”
