The North American refrigerated transportation market is witnessing increased demand due to growth in consumer spending on commodities. The rise in consumption of food materials and beverages heightens the need for better food safety, and quality refrigerated transportation is vital to protect perishables.

North American Refrigerated Transportation Market, a new analysis from Frost & Sullivan, shows that revenues in this industry totaled $1.68 billion in 2004 and should reach $6.30 billion in 2011. “The Food and Drug Administration’s Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) dictates that shippers and consignees of meat, poultry, and seafood must provide details and documents of their food handling and processing,” said Frost & Sullivan research analyst R Srivatsan. “As a result, more fleets are purchasing new refrigerated vehicles, which are built with controls and monitoring devices to offer better temperature management.”
