CSA Management Suite, an online service by J J Keller & Associates Inc, has been enhanced to provide subscribers with both driver and unit scorecards.

These reports were added to assist transportation professionals in conducting a more detailed analysis on their units and drivers to allow for more effective management of operations under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) initiative.

Rustin Keller, vice-president of business services at Keller, said, “The new scorecards provide CSA Management Suite subscribers with the ability to more closely evaluate their operations including their overall BASIC (Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories) summary, driver BASIC trends, violation lists, inspection summaries, inspection details, accident details, and more.”

Robert Rose, Keller’s transportation management editor, said, “Prior to the implementation of the CSA program, enforcement of the rules and regulations were focused primarily on the motor carriers. These enhancements to CSA Management Suite are significant since the CSA approach to enforcement of the regulations directly monitors both the driver and the carrier’s safety behaviors and responsibilities. All inspections and crashes a driver receives while under the authority of a motor carrier will remain as a part of the driver’s record for three years and will follow that driver for the same period of time regardless of the number of employers that same driver may have. The carrier, meanwhile, must also carry the same inspection and crash data but only for a two-year period, even if the carrier terminates the driver.”

CSA Management Suite allows carriers to manage their safety programs more effectively under the initiative by using real accident, violation, and roadside inspection data to generate CSA BASIC scores to see how they stack up in the CSA’s Safety Measurement System. The service provides carriers with tools and resources to evaluate where they stand, identify steps they can take to improve, and implement sustainable and successful safety compliance programs to decrease their likelihood of an FMCSA intervention.

Carriers can visit www.managecsa.com to sign up for a free trial of the service.
