C R England donated more than 850 backpacks, along with $15 school supply vouchers, to students in the Laredo and United Independent School Districts in Laredo TX recently. A press conference was held at Texas A&M International University (Western Hemisphere Trade Center) with students and administrators from both school districts present. “C R England in Laredo is very appreciative of this collaborative effort between the Laredo School Districts, Walmart, and several partners in the transportation and logistics community,” said Dave Akers, president of C R England–Mexico Division. “This effort has enabled the backpack donation program to expand again this year to over 850 backpacks and school supply vouchers—more than double the 400 that we started the program with in 2011. These items, donated by C R England as well as local industry partners, will provide a direct benefit to the students in these school districts.” “We are excited to be part of this important program that provides assistance to the students of the Laredo School districts,” said Sam Scott, president of C R England’s National and Regional Divisions. “Our company places a high value on education, and it is our hope these backpacks and supply vouchers will support our future leaders’ success in the classroom.”
LISD and UISD superintendents also expressed gratitude for helping students and their families. “I want to express my appreciation to C R England for their donation of backpacks and Walmart gift vouchers for our children,” said Dr Marcus Nelson, LISD superintendent of schools. “Your generosity will make an immediate difference in the lives of students from both school districts.” “This donation shows that C R England is a true leader when it comes to helping our community,” said UISD Superintendent Roberto J Santos. “Our students and families will greatly benefit from their generosity.” Other logistics and transportation partners with operations in Laredo also contributed to the program this year. They include Stevens Transport, Auto Transportes Alanis, Laredo Trailer Repair, Inter Global Solutions Group, Yusen Logistics, Diana M De Montemayor Customs Brokers, Manpower, and Transplace. C R England coordinates the redemption of the $15 vouchers with each of the four Walmart store locations in Laredo.  Walmart has supported this program during each of the five years that C R England has sponsored the donation.
