TriPac gets closed-loop cooling option

Thermo King’s new Closed Loop Cooling option for its TriPac hybrid auxiliary idle reduction and temperature-control system may be an answer.

For trucks operated in warmer climates, or for companies that prefer an APU that runs independently of the tractor cooling system, Thermo King’s new Closed Loop Cooling option for its TriPac hybrid auxiliary idle reduction and temperature-control system may be an answer.

The Closed Loop Cooling system offers reduced installation complexity, emergency tractor alternator backup and does not require use of the tractor’s coolant. With the system, available for order with the TriPac system or as an aftermarket option, the TriPac runs independently of the engine’s cooling system while still providing the battery charging and cab comfort drivers need, Thermo King said.

And in the case of a tractor alternator failure, the system can act as an emergency alternator backup, supplying voltage for temporary tractor operation.

“Closed Loop Cooling is a direct result of listening to our customers and developing innovative solutions that meet their needs,” said Dwayne Cowan, APU product manager for Thermo King. “This option will be a nice feature for customers who frequently run where the average low temperature is above 32 degrees, and it adds to the breath of options available for the market-leading TriPac system.”
