Gear to help fight coronavirus in the cab

April 3, 2020
To stay safe and healthy during this pandemic, drivers must equip themselves and their trucks with the right tools and accessories.

Keeping drivers from contracting COVID-19 is just as crucial to maintaining a working supply chain as ensuring factories are humming and grocers’ shelves are stocked.

While on the road, the job lends itself to the social distancing and self-isolation aspects of preventing exposure to the coronavirus, which is still far from reaching critical mass, considering America has lost more than 6,000 people (as of April 3) and expects to exceed 100,000 deaths. At pickup, drop-off and refuels, truckers depart the safety of their cabs and run the risk infection due to spores in the air or on surfaces such as door handles or fuel pumps.

But the job still has to be done, so drivers must equip themselves and their trucks with the right tools and accessories.

FleetOwner asked Richard Reina, product training director for TRUCKiD.com, to identify some of the key products and gear available on the site to ensure the brave men and women delivering goods across the country stay safe and healthy.

And for more details on disinfecting, see the CDC guidelines and Reina's piece on the subject.
