The ISL G engine – which can operate on either compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) – is rated at 320 hp at 1,000 lb-ft of torque and is EPA 2010-compliant. The engine comes equipped with a three-way catalyst and does not require the use of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) or a diesel particulate filter (DPF), Cummins said.

Kenworth noted that the CNG and LNG fuel tanks on these T800 short-hood and W900S models can be configured to suit specific applications and range requirements. They may also qualify for a U.S. federal tax credit of up to $32,000, along with state and federal grant funding.

“The ISL G Kenworth T800 short hood and W900S models provide an excellent, low-emission solution combined with outstanding efficiency, horsepower and torque,” said Gary Moore, Kenworth’s assistant gm for marketing and sales.
