Average diesel prices fell ten cents per gallon for the week of August 4, 2008, following a 12-cent drop the previous week, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Oil prices hit $118 a barrel today, the lowest price it has been in three months, according to TheNew York Times, a significant drop from the $147.27 reached on July 11th. While the drop in fuel prices hasn’t been as steep, it is still more than a quarter per gallon lower than the all-time high of $4.76 recorded on July 14th.
The most expensive area of the country continues to be New England, where a gallon averages $4.74. The least expensive area is the Midwest, where the average is $4.42.
