The average diesel price in the U.S. decreased four cents to $2.09 per gallon for the week of March 2nd

The average diesel price in the U.S. decreased four cents to $2.09 per gallon for the week of March 2nd, according the Energy Information Administration (EIA), marking the seventh consecutive week of falling prices.

Diesel prices continue to fall as both gasoline and crude oil prices inch upwards. A barrel of crude oil rose 67 cents to $40.82 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange today, the Associated Press reported, while the average gasoline price is up 2.5 cents in the past week.

The most expensive area for diesel fuel continues to be New England, where it averaged $2.47 per gallon. The least expensive area is the Midwest, where it averaged $2.03 per gallon.
