Diesel fuel prices have edged up since last week—rising .87% overall-- but still remain far below last summer’s highs, according to data compiled by Martin Labbe Associates. The national average for a gallon of diesel was $2.59 for the week ending July 6—compared to $4.35 (down 41.42%) for the same week a year earlier.
The highest weekly jump was in California where diesel rose 1.58% to $2.79. In the Lower Atlantic region, diesel increased 1.20% to $2.56. The price climbed 1.14% on the East Coast to $2.61 and 1.06% in the Central Atlantic region to $2.71. For the rest of the West Coast, the price climbed .99% to $2.71.
More modest increases occurred in New England—up .92% to $2.66 and in both the Midwest ($2.57) and Gulf Coast ($2.55) regions, where the average price climbed by just .80%.
Only the Rocky Mountain region posted a decrease, seeing the average drop -0.12% to $2.65.
