According to Kenworth Truck Co., its Class 7 T370 hybrid tractor is now eligible for a maximum federal tax credit of $9,000 under a government program designed to assist fleets with hybrid truck purchases.

The medium-duty diesel-electric tractor is available rated up to 55,000 lb. GCW for local haul applications, including beverage, general freight and grocery, Kenworth said.

“The availability of a $9,000 tax credit is excellent news for customers interested in purchasing Kenworth T370 Class 7 hybrid tractors,” said Gary Moore, Kenworth asst. gm-marketing & sales. “Kenworth leads the industry by providing practical technologies that help enhance fuel economy and reduce emissions.”

An Eaton hybrid drive system works with a Paccar PX-6 diesel engine to collect energy through regenerative braking to assist the diesel on acceleration. An in-dash display monitors the system and updates information as driving conditions change.
