Kenworth releases new diesel-electric hybrid tractor

Kenworth Truck Co. has released the T370 Class 7 diesel-electric hybrid tractor for local haul applications

Kenworth Truck Co. has released the T370 Class 7 diesel-electric hybrid tractor for local haul applications such as beverage, general freight and grocery distribution, the company said.

According to the company, the hybrid tractor was designed to improve fuel economy by up to 25%. It is powered by a Paccar PX-6 engine and features a transmission-mounted motor and generator, a frame mounted 340V battery pack and a dedicated power management system.

The tractor will be available in several wheelbases and its advanced powertrain controls monitor driving conditions, automatically switching between electric only, combined diesel and electric and diesel only power modes, the company said.
