The Internal Revenue Service recently announced that idle reduction devices approved through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay program can qualify for the FET exemption.
Available as a factory-installed option for Kenworth T660, T800 and W900 models equipped with the 72-in. AeroCab sleeper, Kenworth Clean Power can enhance fuel economy by as much as 8%, the company said.
In addition, Kenworth announced that purchasers of Kenworth T370 Class 7 and T270 Class 6 hybrid trucks in both pickup and delivery and utility boom applications are eligible for a tax credit of up to $12,000 when the vehicle is equipped with a Paccar PX-6 engine and an Eaton diesel-electric hybrid power system.
According to Kenworth, anybody who purchases a T370 hybrid built this year qualifies for a $12,000 federal tax credit while buyers of the T270 qualify for a $6,000 federal tax credit.
