Kenworth Truck Co. has received an order for diesel-electric T370 hybrid vehicles from Coca-Cola Enterprises—150 tractors and 35 trucks--all of which will be put into service this year. The 185 vehicles are in addition to Coca-Cola’s fleet of 120 Kenworth T370 hybrid beverage delivery vehicles deployed last year.

The Kenworth T370 hybrids are equipped with a Paccar PX-6 engine, rated up to 280 hp and up to 660 lb-ft of torque, and an Eaton diesel-electric hybrid power system, the company said. In addition, they feature a transmission-mounted motor/generator and frame-mounted 340-volt, lithium-ion battery pack.

“The Kenworth hybrids are performing well, with a more than 30% improvement in both fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions, compared to standard beverage delivery trucks,” said Gary Kapusta, Coca-Cola Enterprises vp of indirect procurement.
