Calstart has announced the winners of its Blue Sky Award for 2008, recognizing the contributions to clean air and energy efficiency by companies, organizations and individuals in the transportation industry. The winners will be honored at a June 10th ceremony and luncheon.
Eaton Corp. won the Blue Sky Award for being the world’s first to develop hybrid electric and hybrid hydraulic systems for medium and heavy commercial vehicles; Business Region Göteborg won the Charles R. Imbrecht Blue Sky Innovation Award for using biomethane as a renewable fuel in Sweden.
Southern Counties Express won a Blue Sky Merit Award for buying and operating liquefied natural gas (LNG) port trucks; Union Pacific Railroad Co. won a Blue Sky Merit Award for the development and deployment of over 150 low emission locomotives; and ZipCar won a Blue Sky Merit Award for its car-sharing program.
