Rush Enterprises, Inc. has announced that its Rush Truck Center in Tucson delivered a Model 335 Peterbilt hybrid diesel electric trucks to the Tucson Community Food Bank during a dedication ceremony last week.

“We applaud the Community Food Bank’s adoption of hybrid vehicles and their commitment to the environment,” said W. M. “Rusty” Rush, president & CEO of Rush Enterprises, Inc. “Our team at Rush Truck Center – Tucson is pleased to support the Community Food Bank with the latest in vehicle technology as well as offer a range of expert services throughout the life cycle of this vehicle.”

The Class 7 Model 335 features a hybrid-electric power system from Eaton and a Paccar PX6 diesel engine. According to Peterbilt, the system reduces fuel use, emissions and noise through regenerative braking, ideal for stop-and-go operations such as urban P&D.

The Community Food Bank truck is equipped with a 20-ft. Morgan body, Carrier Supra 750 refrigeration system and an Interlift liftgate, Rush said, and will enable the food bank to add thirteen retail locations to its food donation pickup route.
