ATDynamics has been named the recipient of the 2011 Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award (GEELA), presented by the state of California. The award is the state’s top environmental honor recognizing businesses which reduce greenhouse gas emissions while providing economic benefits.
ATDynamics was recognized for its TrailerTail aerodynamic device. The TrailerTail, which extends out 4 ft. from the back of the trailer, is said to reduce fuel consumption by 6%.
“ATDynamics is a true leader by proving that it can support and promote environmental values without sacrificing its business objectives,” said Matt Rodriguez, secretary for environmental protection. “ATDynamics understands that going green can be a successful economic strategy that can also lead to sustainable growth and development.”
According to ATDynamics, the TrailerTail has the potential to remove over 50 million metric tons of CO2 over the next decade through widespread adoption by the trucking industry.
“We are honored to receive one of the most prestigious environmental business awards in the country. In a world of 7 billion people and growing energy challenges, we need to reinvent every aspect of our economy, including how we move freight,” said Andrew Smith, founder and CEO of ATDynamics. “We would like to share this award with our customers: the trucking companies who have moved quickly to embrace innovation, greater operating profits and environmental stewardship by changing the shape of their trailers.”
The TrailerTail is an EPA SmartWay verified fuel-efficiency device.
