Electric Vehicles International (EVI) has announced that its medium- and heavy-duty fully electric trucks have received California Air Resources Board (CARB) approval, making both models eligible for the board’s $20,000-rebate program.

The vehicles, a Freightliner Custom Chassis model EVI-WI and a Daimler Freightliner M2 model EVI-MD produce zero emissions. They are also Dept. of Transportation approved for road use.

“Having both the CARB and DOT approval, along with our state-of-the-art vertically integrated zero emission powertrain, truly sets EVI apart from the competition in the fully electric return-to-base application,” says Steve Riley, vp-sales and marketing.

EVI has partnerships with Light Engineering, Valence Technology, and Daimler.

CARB, through the Clean Vehicle Rebate Program, will be offering rebates of $20,000 per vehicle beginning this month, EVI said. These rebates, which can be combined with other incentives, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
