The new Goodyear G572 LHD is the deepest-tread drive tire to receive SmartWay verification as a fuel-efficient truck tire, according to the company. The G572 LHD with proprietary Fuel Max technology replaces Goodyear’s G372A LHD, maintaining a tread depth of 30/32nds, but lowering rolling resistance by 10%, according to Donn Kramer, Goodyea director of marketing for commercial tires.
“The great thing about the G572 LHD is its improved fuel economy without sacrificing miles to removal,” he said. “When used in conjunction with Goodyear Fuel Max steer and trailer tires, operators can expect up to a 4-plus percent increase in fuel economy, as compared to standard Goodyear tires.”
Other features for the new drive tire include TredLock technology, which uses microgroves to stabilize tread for more even wear, and both circumferential and lateral tread grooves for all-season performance in both dry and wet conditions, according to Goodyear. In addition, he G572 LHD’s belt package has four ultra-tensile steel belts to reinforce the tread and provide a solid foundation for retreading, the company said.
The new drive tire comes in four sizes: 11R22.5 and 11R24.5 in G and H load ratings; and 295/75R22.5 and 285/75R24.5 in G load ratings.
