Continental Commercial Vehicle Tire’s HDL Eco Plus premium drive tire achieved up to a 2.4% fuel economy advantage versus competitive brands

Continental Commercial Vehicle Tire’s HDL Eco Plus premium drive tire achieved up to a 2.4% fuel economy advantage versus competitive brands through an independent controlled evaluation tool based on the Society of Automotive Engineers J1321 test method, according to the tire maker.

“These results confirm our own internal tests proving that the 28/32nd closed-shoulder drive HDL Eco Plus offers exceptional fuel economy, while still providing competitive overall miles,” said Roger Stansbie, director of tire technology for commercial tires in the Americas. “These results came despite wet weather conditions during the test that would normally minimize the differences between competitor performances due to the reduced coefficients of friction.”

A closed-shoulder drive tire designed for long-haul trucks, the HDL Eco Plus features an advanced tread compound and stone ejection system and delivers long original mileage, low rolling resistance and high retreadability, the company said.
