Cascade Sierra Solutions (CSS) has announced the addition of Lonnie Stroud to the organization as its COO and CIO. Stroud was most recently sr. vp and credit union service organization president at Selco Community Credit Union, where he held various other positions during his tenure.
The organization also introduced two new Board of Director members: Steven G. Hickok, recently retired as the deputy administrator of the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), and Gary Gaussoin, currently chairman of Silver Eagle Manufacturing Co. (SEMC).
There will be plenty for its new officers to do. The not-for-profit was recently awarded a $22.2 million grant from the Dept. of Energy (DOE) to advance truckstop electrification. CSS is partnering with ShorePower Technologies to install Shorepower Truck Electrified Parking Space (STEPS) systems for diesel trucks at 50 truckstops throughout the U.S.
“Each of the fifty truckstops will get about 25 STEPS,” says Sándor Lau, development director for CSS. “Fleets need to know they will be available everywhere they go.”
CSS will also offer a rebate program for truck owners purchasing idle reduction equipment upgrades with electric stand-by capabilities. Qualifying devices will be eligible for a rebate of up to 25% of the total cost.
CSS has taken “transparency” to enviable levels with its constantly updated online Progress Report. As of Feb. 16, the organization reported that it had upgraded 2,811 vehicles, bringing the baseline mpg per truck from an average of 5.80 mpg to 6.37 mpg. Upgrade information is also provided on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis.
