Advanced Disposal Services has broken ground on a CNG fueling station in Ball Ground, GA. The station is being built by Vocational Energy. Advanced will service Gwinnett County and the city of Roswell with vehicles from the facility.

“We believe that environmental sustainability is of utmost importance. We’re always looking for ways to green our fleet and to be more environmentally efficient. It just made sense from all angles,” said Katrine Strickland, marketing manager. “We feel like it is the next step in keeping the Atlanta area clean and green for generations to come.”

Strickland said the facility will be one of many Advanced will build as it deploys an alternative-fueled fleet. Headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, Advanced Disposal is the fourth largest privately owned environmental services company in the country, and services close to 800,000 customers with a fleet of 900 trucks.

The facility, which will cost $22 million to build, will be able to fuel up to 95 vehicles in 10 hours. Advanced has 27 CNG trucks on order.

“I know a good deal of research went into this decision. The CNG engines burn cleaner – and are solely from domestic sources reducing our dependency on foreign oil,” said Strickland.

“Advanced Disposal is a progressive company that understands the dollars and cents of running a business, but also takes their role of environmental stewardship very seriously. They are the perfect company to raise the level of awareness of alternative fuel,” said Scott Edelbach, president of Vocational Energy.

The facility is expected to be completed by August.
