• Yara opens DEF terminal to supply East Coast

    June 29, 2012

Yara North America has opened a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) terminal in Bayonne, NJ. The new terminal will help meet the needs of East Coast fleets and DEF retail outlets, the company said.

    Yara supplies Air1 DEF.

The new terminal doubles the company’s Northeast capacity, it said. According to Yara, Class 4-8 vehicles consume 70 million gals. of DEF annually, with that figure expected to balloon to 465 million gals. by 2015 as more vehicles running selective catalytic reduction systems replace older, non-2010 emissions-compliant vehicles.

“The opening of our Bayonne terminal is yet another important milestone in the continued expansion of our global supply chain network and demonstrates Yara’s ability to answer the rapid growth of the U.S. DEF market,” said Chad Dombroski, director of Air1 for Yara. “Fleets depend upon the reliable delivery of quality DEF. As the world’s largest DEF producer, this terminal opening reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring Air1 DEF is available when and where our customers need it.”
