Questar Fueling will build and operate a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling facility in Houston, Texas, that will service two local carriers and also be open to the public.
The facility will provide up to 5 million gals. of natural gas per year for approximately 200 trucks operated by Swift Transportation and Central Freight Lines. The majority of these trucks will use a private, time-fill facility. The remainder will use a five-lane, high-speed fueling facility that will be open to the public.
“Questar Corp. is excited to announce a partnership between these ‘best-in-class’ carriers and our fueling company – Questar Fueling,” said Ron Jibson, president, CEO and chairman of Questar Corp. “Swift Transportation and Central Freight Lines are industry leaders in the adoption of CNG as a transportation fuel for the heavy-duty market. I commend them for their foresight in recognizing natural gas as a fuel that could transform the industry. With such abundant supplies of natural gas in America, it’s only a matter of time before we see more trucking companies switching fuels to cut costs, increase efficiencies and improve the air we breathe.”
“Our vendors expect us to consistently find ways to improve our transportation efficiencies,” said Jerry Moyes, chairman, founder and CEO of Swift Transportation. “CNG helps us meet that objective, and our partnership with Questar Fueling will help facilitate our transition to CNG.”
