New Class 8 dual-fuel system approved by EPA

Dec. 17, 2013

Diesel 2 Gas (D2G) announced that the Environmental Protection Agency has approved its dual-fuel system for Class 8 trucks. The DualFlex+ system is available for several engine families, the company said, including Detroit Diesel Series 60 engines up to model year 2006 in 12L and 14L configurations.

D2G said it anticipates EPA approval on Caterpillar, Cummins, Mack and International engine families up to 2006.

According to the company, the DualFlex+ system achieves more than 60% gas substitution of diesel without losing any of its diesel operation performance. In the absence of gas, the DualFlex+ system can operate on 100% diesel.

“We have developed the product the natural gas vehicle revolution has been demanding for heavy duty trucks,” said Elio Muller, company founder. “DualFlex+ is the answer to existing truck owners who have been waiting for a technology that can retrofit existing trucks without sacrificing diesel engine performance. These trucks have been performing in regular work duty cycles, pulling loads and making money for the owners. The D2G product delivers at a price that allows the fuel cost savings to payback their investment in less than a year.”
