Diesel prices declined in every region of the country, EIA added, with only four areas sporting prices above the $3-per-gallon mark:

  • New England at $3.114 per gallon, down 5 cents from last week;
  • The Central Atlantic at $3.112, down 5.7 cents (which is also the biggest regional drop for diesel prices this week);

The national average for gasoline decreased 3.5 cents to $2.413 per gallon this week, the agency noted, which is $1.183 per gallon cheaper compared to the same week in 2014.

Gasoline prices declined in every region of the U.S., except for the Rocky Mountains, where prices inched up 6/10ths of a penny to $2.319 per gallon, EIA said.

The largest regional dip in gasoline prices occurred in the Midwest, which sport a 6.6 cent decline to $2.312 per gallon, the agency pointed out.
