DALLAS. America’s largest brewing company, Anheuser-Busch was presented with Fleet Owner’s 2015 Green Fleet of the Year award at the Alternative Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo and Conference. The seventh winner of the annual award celebrating fleet commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, Anheuser-Busch was recognized for a corporate-wide program that includes converting significant portions of its trucking operations to natural gas, as well as instituting operational changes to improve fleet productivity.

On hand to accept the award was Billy Lawder, dir. of transportation engineering and a key member of the team that has moved all 66 of the heavy-duty tractors in its Houston distribution operation to compressed natural gas (CNG). Future plans call for similar fleet conversions in other A-B distribution regions such as St. Louis and Columbus, OH.

“This year alone, the Houston fleet is expected to reduce its carbon emissions by some 2,000 tons,” said Jim Mele, Fleet Owner editor-in-chief. “It’s a perfect example of the motivation, commitment, investment and above all enthusiasm rooted in sound business strategies that we look for when singling out an organization as our Green Fleet of the Year.”

“It’s great to see a company as large as Anheuser-Busch making significant strides in corporate sustainability,” said Jennifer Gibson, brand manager for WIX Filters.  WIX has sponsored the Green Fleet of the Year Award since its inception in 2009, and provides the winner with a comprehensive fleet assessment designed to reduce its business costs as well as a supply of heavy-duty oil filters.
